Marais (rue des Rosiers)
The universally popular Marais is an ideally central location for visiting Paris. Rue des Rosiers is a narrow lively street where cafés, modest and not-so-modest restaurants jostle for space with designer boutiques and Jewish delis - a street of contradictions. A favorite of Parisians and tourists alike, the heart of the Jewish quarter. On weekends the street becomes crowded with ambling pedestrians. Within 5-15 mins walk you can visit 17th c Place des Vosges, Picasso Museum, Museum of the History of Paris, Ile St Louis, Ile de la Cité, Notre Dame, Left Bank and the Louvre - just for starters ! Grocery, bakers, delicatessens on doorstep, and supermarkets 5 mins walk.
Our apartment is in a small very typical old building on the first floor and has pleasant contemporary furnishings. Recently entirely refurbished to a good standard by its Italian architect owner, with an attractive color scheme of ‘washed-out orange’ and light green, polished parquet floor with rugs. The windows overlook the street and are double glazed.
